The Four Seasons comprises four violin concertos entitled Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Published in Amsterdam in 1725 as part of Vivaldi’s Op. 8, each concerto vividly portrays scenes from the natural world: birdsong, thunderstorms, harvest celebrations, icy winds and fireside warmth. Their extraordinary colour and imagination have made The Four Seasons among the best-known and most enduring works in classical music.
