Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 in G major was composed in 1889 and first performed in Prague the following year, conducted by Dvořák himself. Warm, joyful and full of invention, the symphony evokes the natural beauty of the Bohemian countryside through birdsong-like melodies, lively dances, glowing lyricism and a thrilling trumpet-led finale.
