Wilhelm Popp (1828 – 1903) was a German composer and flautist. He also adopted a French version of his name: Guillaume Popp and the pseudonym Henry Alberti. He was court pianist and flautist at “Herzoglich Saxon Court Theatre to Coburg-Gotha”. He performed as a virtuoso pianist with various orchestras and in 1867 he became the principal flute at the Hamburg Philharmonic.
Popp composed nearly 600 compositions and arrangements of popular melodies and opera tunes of the day. His original compositions are melodious in character and range greatly in difficulty level, so that flautists from beginners to virtuosi can enjoy them.
