John Widger studied violin and piano at the Royal Academy of Music (GRSM) before qualifying as a music teacher at the London Institute (PGCE). His teaching career has been rich and varied, taking him to the other side of the world as head of music in English schools in the Phillipines, Kuwait and Tailand.

His love of Jazz combined with his experience as a string player and teacher for many years is evident in his exciting and varied output as a composer.
