Johann Christian Schickhardt

Johann Christian Schickhardt (1682 — 1762) was a C396 German composer and oboist. During the first half of his career he was employed in Holland in the service of the Prince of Orange, Jan Willem Friso and his mother Princess Henriëtte Amalia. Eventually Schickhardt returned to Germany to work in Hamburg. He is known mostly these days by recorder players thanks to the prodigious output that has survived for that instrument.
