Geoffrey Keating

Geoffrey Keating (1937-2026) received an MA from Oxford University before becoming Director of Music at Millfield School, where he stayed for 17 years. He also taught at Sherborne School for three years before retiring to Scotland. In 2018, Geoff received the British Empire Medal for ser­vices to music and char­ity. He had taught, played, and writ­ten music in dif­fer­ent parts of Bri­tain all his life. When he came to live in Gate­house of Fleet, he threw him­self into the musical life of the region, found­ing the Sol­way Sin­fonia and remain­ing its chief con­ductor for twenty-one years.
