This new edition of The Circus for Brass Band replaces the old Spartan Press legacy ‘Facsimile Edition’ of 1990.

This short overture, which parallels some of the traditional circus acts (for example trapeze, jugglers, clowns etc.), is a tribute to, and an affectionate parody of, a long lost and much missed musical genre.

First performed by The Wantage Silver Band, Oxfordshire, UK conducted by the composer in June 1983.

The Circus won the Eric Coates Prize for Composition, at the Royal Academy of Music, London in 1981 in its original scoring for light orchestra.

Duration: approximately 4 minutes.
