Symphony No. 7 Simplified and Abridged
These arrangements preserve the character and essential spirit of each great work, while presenting the music in a form that is comparatively brief and approachable at the piano. All movements are represented, although each has necessarily been abridged and carefully adapted to provide an enjoyable and rewarding introduction to each celebrated masterpiece.
Bruckner’s Symphony No. 7 in E major was composed between 1881 and 1883 and first performed in Leipzig in 1884. Its warmly lyrical opening, magnificent slow movement and immense architectural sweep brought Bruckner his first major public success. The Adagio, partly conceived as a tribute to Richard Wagner, is among the composer’s most moving and celebrated creations.
