“The music here is largely derived from the musical ornament, the turn. This melodic device is given several treatments; often decorative, more expansive, motivic and expressive. The sketch for this was discovered whilst rummaging through a pile of repertoire belonging to the Sax Quartet, Saxology. I had the honour and pleasure of playing Tenor Sax with that fine ensemble of good friends”.
