Schubert composed Salve Regina at the age of 15 in 1812.
It is scored for either Soprano and Piano with Clarinet Obbligato or in the absence of a Soprano, Two Clarinets and Piano.
A set of three parts and piano score are included.
“Salve Regina, Mater misericordiae” is the beginning of an ancient Latin hymn that translates today to “Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope.”
