Written in the months leading up to the outbreak of the First World War, Elgar had originally intended Sospiri to be a light companion piece to Salut d’Amour. What emerged however was a heartfelt bleak adagio on a par with the slow movements of his symphonies. Arranged here for Piano, Flute, Oboe, Clarinet & Bassoon by Martin Gatt.
The first edition of this work was published by Phylloscopus Publications in 2021. The pianist plays from the full score. Separate woodwind parts are provided.
