Fantasia after Brahms presents a tender rhapsody for the young student. Composed in 1975 as “Fantaisie in G minor” (Op. 7), it was first performed in the duet version by Chris Banks and Mark Goddard in Oxford as the overture to a play.
The sad, Brahms inspired tune in G minor is followed by a more reconciled second subject in D major, before returning to the turbulent opening material to conclude. The work was revised in September 2018 and initially published by EVC Publications Limited in 2023 but subsequently withdrawn by the composer and placed with Clifton Edition in 2026.
This edition presents the work in two versions: for piano solo and for piano duet.
