This collection of one-page pieces is intended for elementary pianists of all ages. Sitting nicely between Initial to Grade 2 level, each piece was originally written for and published by “Pianist Magazine”.
In this book you will enjoy a smorgasbord of stylistic variety, as well as differing pianistic colours and textures. These are programmatic (or descriptive) pieces, that is, each one has its own title relating to the character of the work. Some have been written in traditional Baroque or Classical styles such as the Gigue and Little Sonatina, whilst other works have been given more quirky titles like Blue Funk and Christmas Rock, allowing players to imagine and create their own story. These works highlight the many musical and technical facets required when learning to play, all of which are useful to implement at this level.
Pianist magazine is a UK-based print and digital publication tailored for pianists of all abilities, from absolute beginners to advanced musicians. Often doubling as an interactive tutor, its primary goal is to help readers become better pianists and to enjoy a wide range of carefully selected piano music printed in each edition.
You can hear a playlist containing all 19 pieces, which have been recorded by Pianist magazine’s excellent pianist Chenyin Li, by visiting https://cliftonedition.com/C1034
