Christian Friedrich Gumlich

Christian Friedrich Gumlich (1781 – 1827) remains a mysterious figure, He played the bassoon, cello and organ in the service of the Dukes of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld as a court composer (Kammermusikus) in Coburg (modern day Bavaria). His output includes an Andante and Rondo for bassoon and orchestra (published in 1826), this Premier Quatuor originally published by Phylloscopus Publications PP8) and the Deuxième Quatuor (also available from Clifton Edition C888). Our editions of these quartets are edited by C.M.M. & F.H. Nex and are based on a copy of the earlier edition held in the British Library (shelf mark h. 1568.ww.(l.)).
