Alexandra Skevington

Alexandra Skevington is an English composer writing in a number of diverse styles and for a variety of instruments and purposes.
Her music education focussed on performance. Writing was, if anything, discouraged. Not realising composing could be a career, Alexandra left music for several years working in market research and then as a primary school teacher specialising in maths, before eventually starting to share her compositions under pseudonyms. Following success in competitions, she took a leap of faith and left her job to work as a composer, private music teacher and piano accompanist.
Alexandra’s music is generally highly melodic with nods to jazz, French impressionistic and house music, and often either independently tells a story or has been created to support one. Her main aim as a composer is to ensure that whatever she writes is accessible and enjoyable for people to play as well as to listen to.
